How different types of environments effect people in their day to day lives, health and well-being? How people cognize environments and interpret them? How can we help people actively structure the space and surrounding environment in a way that more optimal to them? Especially in a dysfunctional environment, people tend to stuck in a reactive mode, how can we help them taking an active role in improving environment? How can we get people to behave in an ecologically positive manner, to protect environment, to go green? It is all about Environmental Psychology, it is a discipline that pays attention to the interaction and relationship between human and environment: on the one hand, it emphasizes how people are affected by the environment, on the other hand, it also pays attention to the impact and reactive and active responses of human to the environment. Environmental psychology is inherently interdisciplinary and here we emphasizes on translating various evaluation and design guidelines and principles based on environmental behavioral studies. In this course, we are together to build a good reciprocal interactive relation with our environment, to bring the environment closer to what we want; take one step further, to encourage everyone in class to link basic theories and research with real environmental problem-solving; ; and to create the optimization of human and environment.
