Chiral synthesis (stereoselective synthesis or asymmetric synthesis) has become a new frontier and hot area in modern synthetic chemistry. The primary objectives of this course are to help the students understand the fundamentals of stereochemistry and major concepts of chiral synthesis, know about main types of different asymmetric reactions and gain knowledge of asymmetric catalysis and asymmetric synthetic strategies. The course will also provide students a full view of recent research progress and development in the area of asymmetric synthesis and applications in natural products, chiral drugs synthesis. Through the course, students would have a perspective view on chirality in modern synthetic chemistry, drug research and material science.
