There is a rich inter-constructive relationship between science and art and many intersections between the two through the history of science and the history of art. Science and art are fields of knowledge that overlap. This course follows the history as the train of thoughts and uses Western paintings as examples to comb the process of art exploring time, space, and light as it develops, and its connection with science, and analyzes the parallelism between science and art. This course allows students to understand the wholeness of human culture, understand the complex relationship between science and art in history, experience the generality and differences between science and art as a way of human interpretation of the world, and interpret and reflect on “science, technology and social relations in the artwork” from a humanistic perspective, to comprehensively improve the quality of all-around education in the class.
This course will help students understand the historical origin and development of Chinese philosophy, enhance the understanding of Chinese traditional culture, strengthen the qualities of humanity, expand the academic view and facilitate the integration of arts and science.
