This is a broad course designed to introduce the students to all aspects of foreign language study. This includes, grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Cultural information is provided and taught throughout the duration of the course. Students will do research on various cultural topics. This is achieved through group, partner and individual practice activities, dependent on the subject. Emphasis is placed on conversations, vocabulary and correct usage of the language. Correct pronunciation and oral proficiency are the primary goals, which require an emphasis on listening and speaking. The classroom experience will help students appreciate and develop cultural awareness through authentic cultural materials such as books and media resources.
