Introduction to Marine Ecosystems. We can find almost every element in the periodical table in the ocean. Chemical oceanography is a science studying chemical composition, distribution, chemical characteristics and processes based on the dynamics and transformation of these elements. This class will also provide knowledge to understanding the ocean, discovering the marine resources, and protecting and managing marine environment. It is very much an interdisciplinary field that ranges from fundamental physical, thermodynamic and kinetic chemistry to two-way interactions of ocean chemistry with biological, geological and physical processes.
