Theory course, 2 credits. Experimental phonetics is an interdisciplinary of human speech using experimental tools, involving the domains such as linguistics, physiology, acoustics, psychology, and computer science. This course will focus on the basics of phonetics and its related fields, and give students a basic understanding of basic speech analysis and synthesis techniques. With the rapid development of computer technology, the research findings of experimental phonetics have been widely applied to speech engineering such as speech synthesis and speech recognition. This course will provide basic theoretical knowledge and technology for students who are interested in working in related fields.
