Lecture, 3 credits, 3 hours per week. Pre-requisites: ME304 Fundamentals of Energy Engineering (Optional). This course starts from the fundamental of solar energy, and then discuss the principles, design and characterization methods of the three most widely used solar energy conversion systems in the order of photovoltaic conversion, solar photoelectrochemical conversion and photocatalytic conversion. Based on this, this course will later introduce the latest development of solar energy conversion systems and large-scale deployment of such systems.
