This lab course is a specialized elective course for marine science majors and related majors. This course includes knowledge of morphological structure and classification of groups, such as: marine algae, marine plankton (Foraminifera, planktonic diatoms, and planktonic algae), marine benthic organisms (shrimp, crab, shellfish) and marine life under extreme environmental conditions (tube worms growing in hydrothermal and cold springs). Upon completion of this laboratory course, students will have an understanding of marine organisms and their environments, the structure and function of marine communities, how biological processes operate in marine environments, and the effect of human activities on sea life.
