This course provides advanced concepts, algorithms, and techniques for data mining and their application to large-scale data set and big data analytics. With introduction of fundamental algorithms for data processing/cleaning/analysis, classification, association analysis, cluster analysis, and anomaly detection, selected advanced research topics in data mining and applications, with emphasis on various data types such as temporal data, sequence data, spatial data, trajectory data, graph data, textual data, social data, and so on, will be covered in the course. The goal is to provide every student necessary skill set to pursue further study and research in the data analytics field.
