Confucius says, “The civil matters depend on military preparations, while military preparations depend on civil matters.” The Spring and Autumn Annals says, “Worship ceremony and military affairs are quite important for a state”. To understand the art of war and Chinese strategic culture is the basic cultural quality of contemporary undergraduates. The inheritance and promotion of the martial spirit will benefit those in different posts for the construction of modern national defense. Through this course students can learn the knowledge of the Master Sun’s Art of War, including its contents, characteristics, historical role and contemporary significance. This course will help student understand the history of Chinese ancient strategic culture and its profound influence deeply, widen their eyes and improve their ability of dialectical thinking.
