Lecture, 3 credits, 48credit hours. Pre-requisites: CH206. It is an important means bywhich enantiopure chiral molecules may be obtained and it is a very hotresearch field in recent years. Several main points will be involved: To gainan appreciation of the types of asymmetric reactions which may be employed inorganic synthesis; To understand the origins of the enantioselectivities andthe mechanisms of the reactions; To be able to propose asymmetric syntheses oforganic molecules of medium complexity; To carry up the most recent developmentin asymmetric catalysis. Therefore, the students can engage in asymmetricsynthesis with great enthusiasm and make a great contribution to new drugresearch and development.
