Courtyard gongbi bird-and-flower painting in Song Dynasty is a peak of the development of Chinese painting history and an important part of its expression. The great achievements and spirit of "studying the nature of things" of the Song Dynasty Courtyard paintings are far-reaching and significant for the development of Chinese painting art in later ages. This course will be an important subject for students’ aesthetic education for Chinese painting art. The course will teach the development history, the representative painters and the classic works of Song painting, by instructing the representative Courtyard gongbi bird-and-flower paintings in Song Dynasty, so that students can master the basic theory and technical knowledge of gongbi bird-and-flower painting. The course aims to inherit and promote Chinese classical and unique painting forms and based on aesthetic sense and art philosophy of Chinese painting, to enable students to comprehend the expressions and basic skills of gongbi bird-and-flower painting, and then comprehensively improve their abilities of painting art, aesthetic appreciation and modelling.
