This course is an introduction to contemporary French thoughts. The courseis divided into eight chapters, covering the origin, development, maincharacters' thoughts and the latest creations after the May 1968. The purposeof this course is to let students have a general understanding of contemporaryFrench thoughts, and also of the research methods of concerning practicalproblems and breaking though disciplinary barriers. The goal of the course isto let students learn to think beyond the division between humanities andscience in order to return to human being’s good life. The teaching methodincludes teacher explanation and students representation. And with the help ofcinema, art and literature, the charm of French contemporary thoughts will beshown vividly to students.
