Physical Geology. This course provides an introduction to the origin, evolution, and other geological processes in environments ranging from coastal seas to deep ocean basins: morphology, plate tectonics, volcanism, geochemistry, stratigraphy, sedimentation, sea-level history, and paleooceanography. Various technologies used in both lab experiments and field investigations will also be covered. By the end of this course, students are expected to gain the basic knowledge of the earth system, be familiar with the scientific methods in earth science research, and advance the analytical and hands-on skills.
