This studio course offers students anintroduction to contemporary and future manufacturing systems with a view to interplayof manufacturing processes, materials and design processes. As part of thecourse, students learn to assess and work with the interrelationshipsbetween materials, technologies, processes and outcomes Students will work on a design brief for anobject with a particular focus on materials, technologies and relatedproduction processes and develop a design approach addressing constraints and opportunitiesgenerated from requirements of materials, technologies and manufacturing. Aspart of realizing a design project, students critically reflect on how designcan navigate and potentially extend manufacturing systems when developinginnovative design. Skills: considerationof material, technology and manufacturing interactions, basic manufacturingplanning
