In this course, the teacher will take the history of Chinese literatureas the warp and the interpretation of classical works as the weft, helping thestudents to understand the value of literature, teaching them some methods of readingthe classics and leading them to find the history of the occurrence anddevelopment of Chinese literature through the “thematic-guided-reading.” Thestudents will learn to reveal the Chinese ideological and cultural factorsbehind the series of literary classics fromThe Book of Poetry toTheVerse of Chu and to Mr. Lu Xun's famous workThe True Story of Ah Q.In addition to enhancing the students' literary attainment, the course can alsodeepen their understanding of the Chinese worldview, outlook on life andvalues, and effectively strengthen their self-confidence in national culture.
