This course covers core concepts and theoriesof stem cells, the underlying molecular and developmental basis; stemness,pluripotency and reprogramming; proliferation, differentiation,transdifferentiation and dedifferentiation; basic technologies of embryonicstem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and adult stem cells; stem cellpreparation and gene editing; therapeutic and non-therapeutic applications; andrelated topics on ethics, regulations, and intellectual property rights in stemcell research and applications. Through the course study, the students willgain a comprehensive understanding of the stem cell research, master basicbiological characteristics of different stem cells, familiarize with relevanttechnologies, and grasp thecutting-edge advancements and new research directions of the field.
