This course aims to introduce the basic conceptsand principles of a variety of materials applied in energy harvesting,conversion and storage, such as solar cells, fuel cells, and batteries. Itcovers the basic properties, performance related factors, preparation methods,and application areas of energy materials The course will also discuss thestate-of-art research and development of new energy materials, as well as themajor challenges facing energy materials and new perspectives of developmentrelated to new energy materials. The first part of this course will introducethe materials on energy harvesting systems such as solar cells, photosynthesisand biofuels. The second part will mainly deal with hydrogen energy and fuelcells. The third part will discuss electrochemical energy storage systems suchas batteries and supercapacitors.
