This course examines the social and cultural impact of design from the 18thcentury to today and will provide students with an understanding of the history of design, its development as a discipline and continuous evolution today as well as contemporary issues impacting its practice for the future. The course will examine the critical historical movements, relevant cause-and--effect as context and resulting impact on society and culture, starting from the Industrial Revolution, Arts amp; Craft, Modernism, Post-Modernism to the Information Age.
