This course aims tolead students to understand the role of universities in cultural mobilisationthrough systematic study of their function as a maintenance mechanism to upholdcommunity structures, relationships, and systems of authority in the face ofeconomic change, and in the meantime, as an instrument of adaptation toaccelerate the permeation of change into the community on the assumption thatit will improve the current situation. Framed by Neave’s education as culturalmobilisation theory, this courses will contribute to the fulfilment ofstudents’ cultural ambassador role through comparisons of real cases in Chinaand Western countries and a series of practical activities.
