Lecture, 8 credits, 8 hours per week. Pre-requisites: N/A. This course is designed to prepare JEI freshmen to use English in their future academic studies and to help them progress towards the English proficiency required by the SUSTech-KCL Joint programs. It focuses on developing core skills and emphasizes students’ ability to produce accurate English speech and writing and communicate clearly. The course also focuses on language mechanics, including grammar and pronunciation, as well as key listening and reading strategies, to develop students’ fluency and confidence across all the language skills. Students will also learn key IELTS vocabulary as well as general English terms.
