Lecture, 3 credits. Prerequisites: None. This is a major foundational course for university students who major in medicine and related subjects, focusing on biological aspects of life or life phenomena. The course content is both basic and cutting-edge and covers a range of topics, including diversity of living organisms, cells, human tissue and organ systems, genetics and genetic diseases, cancer, evolution and ecology, and recent advances in life sciences and biotechnology. The teaching modules adopt integrated lectures and team-based learning (TBL) sections. The course is expected to guide the study of subsequent medical and professional courses.
