Thiscourse explains the primary structure, principle, and characteristics ofactuators based on different principles, such as electromagnetic motors,electrostatic actuators, shape memory actuators, and pneumatic actuators, andthe controlling methods and sensory techniques. Experimental sessions will followthe schedule with the theory courses to cultivate the engineering ability ofstudents and help them understand the actuators the course better. Theexperiments include disassembling motors, controlling actuators and motors,designing and constructing a multi-DOF actuation system, etc.
