Lecture, 4 credits, 4 hours per week. Pre-requisite: Calculus I. This course is concerned with the theoretical knowledge and programming methods in engineering mathematics and numerical computation from the perspective of engineering applications, including engineering mathematical concepts such as complex numbers, vectors and matrices, calculus, Fourier and Laplace transforms, statistics and curve fitting, partial differential equations, as well as numerical solutions of linear and nonlinear equations, interpolation and polynomials, fitting, numerical differentiation, numerical integration, and the numerical solutions of differential equations. Numerical implementations using MATLAB for solving practical engineering problems will also be covered.
