Major Foundational Courses, 4 credits, 4 hours per week. Pre-requesites: Advanced Mathematics I (MA117) or Analytical Mathematics I (MA101a), Advanced Mathematics II (MA127) or Analytical Mathematics II (MA102a). The Engineering Mechanics course is a theoretical and practical major foundation course, which mainly focuses on the basic principles, theories and methods of mechanics, and their applications in engineering practice. This course mainly covers statics, mechanics of materials and dynamics. It aims to cultivate students to master the basic ability of mechanical analysis and to lay the necessary foundation for the subsequent courses and future engineering practice.
