This course is a professional course specialized in the analysis of seawater samples. Experiment of seawater analysis is an independent course in conjunction with theoretical course of Chemical Oceanography. It is mainly for undergraduate students majoring in marine science, hydrology and water resources engineering, environmental chemistry, etc. This course include: electrode analysis of pH, conductivity and salinity of seawater; Determination of suspended particulates in seawater by filtration and weighing method; Determination of turbidity, anionic detergents and volatile phenols by spectrophotometry; Titration analysis of dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, alkalinity, hardness, and chloride; Photoelectric colorimetric analysis of ammonia, nitrogen, phosphorus and other nutrients, extraction of lipids and other organic substances and determination by gas chromatography. students will master two basic methods of volumetric analysis and instrument analysisin marine science, and develop a scientific and rigorous experimental attitude.
