First, this course provides a general understandingregarding the fundamentals of materials science, including atomic and molecularstructures, crystal structures, ceramic and polymer structures, phase diagram, nanomaterials.This course further introduces techniques for material structurecharacterization, mechanical/thermal/acoustic/optical/ electrical properties ofmaterials and their characterization. Next, this course will give overview onthe biomedical background such as nucleic acid and protein structures, cellularstructures and functions, biocompatibility and biomaterial evaluations.Finally, this course introduces the application of biomedical materials indisease diagnostics, imaging and treatment.
