Coldatom physics is an important and exotic branch in modern Atomic, Molecular andOptical Physics. It has become a frontier research area to realize precisionmeasurement, search novel quantum phases, and implement quantum sensing, simulationand computation. This course aims to guide the junior graduate students utilizingfundamental knowledge of quantum mechanics to understand the energy structuresof atoms; introducing basic interactions of light-atom and atom-atom, making the students prepared for further researches on cold atom physics, laser spectroscopy and quantum optics; understanding the basic physical principles of cold atom physics and how to implements them in real cutting-edge experiments. Besides, this course will also introduce the most recent progresses and exotic topics in cold atom physics to the students.
