Intelligent manufacturing (IM) is a kind of intelligent system composed of intelligent machines and human experts, which carries out intelligent activities in the manufacturing process, such as analysis, reasoning, judging, conceiving and decision making. IM technology belongs to the interdisciplinary of information technology, manufacturing technology and industrial engineering, which expands, extends, and partially replaces the brainwork of human experts in the manufacturing process by collaborating human with intelligent machines, and upgrades and extends the manufacturing automation with flexibility, intelligence, and high integration. From the angle of theoretical research and engineering application of IM technology, this course systematically introduces the principle of the commonly used methods of artificial intelligence, algorithms, the basic composition of IM system, and the application of intelligent processing and manufacturing system in engineering practice.By learning this course, the students will understand the development of IM technology, the architecture, and the supporting technologies and theories, master the basic principles of IM technology and the related applications, be able to do some preliminary analysis, system selection and design of intelligent manufacturing units, and get prepared to be engaged in mechatronic control system and the modern advanced manufacturing engineering.
