考古学导论

Archaeology is a discipline that examines human, environment, and material remains to reconstruct past cultures and societies. The course introduces student to fundamental archaeological theories and, methodologies. Students will explore the divers relationships between archaeology and other related disciplines. We will discuss the early history and background of archaeology; excavation methods, data analysis, and interpretative models. In the end of the course, students will analyze case studies in the global context to consider why civilization collapsed and how complex societies regenerated. Students enrolled in this course will become proficient in identifying questions and forming arguments in human evolution, archaeological data analysis, theories, civilization collapse and sustainability. In addition, the course helps students to build a solid ground in understanding archaeology as a strong methodological tool to interpret social changes, historical events, and the diversity of past human behavior. The theoretical tool provided by archaeology also contributes to our understanding of the world we live in today.
