As China is increasingly connected with other parts of the world, and Chinese people are increasingly integrated into the global economy, society, and geopolitics, it is crucial for Chinese students to understand how “distant strangers” live and develop in other areas and how we impact each other due to the interconnectedness of places in the globalization era. World Regional Geography is designed to make students more globally aware and more spatial relationship-sensitive. It will introduce students to the basic physical and human geography of world regions and provide them with a geographic skill set to better understand the world. It is not just about the memorization of countries or mountains; it is about understanding what makes places what they are and how regions of the world interact in today’s global context.
