COE 100 is specifically designed for freshmen students.This half-year-long course aims at providing an introduction to engineering. Itwill cover various engineering topics, such as mechanical, mechanics,aerospace, electronics, electrical, materials, environment, marine, biomedical,microelectronics, system design, and intelligent manufacturing.It trains students with critical thinking, team work, communication andexpression, etc., as well as engineering literacy (engineering ethics,responsibility, etc.)The course is centered on cultivation of students’abilities and improvement of their literacy, aiming at enhancing students’cognitive understanding of engineering, inspiring students’ sense of pride andmission as an engineer, guiding students to define problems, generate creativeideas, think systematically, and carry out design practice, developingstudents’ engineering thinking skills and engineering literacy, which lays asolid foundation for their future learning and work.
