Organic and polymeric materials, biological materials and organic/inorganic hybrid materials are important research fields and they play significant roles in modern materials research. Studying General organic Chemistry will greatly improve the student's fundamental knowledge of organic chemistry and build solid foundation for their organic materials studies and research projects. The course covers the fundamentals of organic chemistry, including the basic structures of organic compounds, important organic reactions, and typical synthetic methods. Various spectroscopies for chemical structure identification of organic compounds will be elaborated.
