Theory course, 2 credits. The laboratory research and social applications of science and technology concern ethic issues, including the basic ethic within science community, and the ethical constraints by society. Scientific ethics and technological ethics are the interdisciplinary academic fields, developing rapidly with increasing importance. This course will invite scholars who are representatives in the fields of scientific ethics and technological ethics, to introduce ethical issues in areas such as life sciences, materials science, artificial intelligence, and so on. The topics include the theoretical basis, historical origins, and academic frontiers. Students will learn the basic knowledge and the frontier of scientific ethics and technological ethics, cultivate their ethical sense, and integrate them into their scientific activities, for keeping science and technology on the healthy road of benefiting humanity and the earth.
