General biology laboratory provides experiments on cells, genetics, evolution, animals, and plants. Topics include observation of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, observation of cytoskeleton and plasmolysis in plant cell, tests of biological macromolecules, microbial fermentation, observation of plant mitosis, genomic DNA extraction from mouse liver, plant diversity in SUSTC, regeneration in planarian, mouse dissection, observation of animal tissues, observation of plant flower structure, leaf structure and photosynthetic pigments chromatography, etc. After completing this course, students will get familiar with biology techniques, such as use of compound microscope, stereoscope, centrifuge, pipette and vortex, method of cell stain and test of biological molecules, etc.
