This course introduces the basic knowledge in statistics and data science through classic historical stories, hot events on the Internet, and real industry cases, etc. By taking the course, students are expected to have a preliminary understanding of the basic knowledge in statistics and data science, such as types of data, random variables, probability distributions, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, etc., know the background of statistical methods and that statistics and data science are problem-driven disciplines.
