SUSTech English III (SE III) is the third and advanced course of SUSTech English in the Center for Language Education’s core curriculum. Moving beyond the basic and intermediate skills, SUSTech English III pushes into advanced levels. It also aims to prepare students for the academic writing course, English for Academic Purposes. SUSTech English III further enhances learner’s ability to comprehend reading and listening materials through interactions with more complex and culturally diverse materials. Through individual presentations, students are introduced to concepts of researching, paraphrasing and citations. They present findings from literature exploration in an academic manner. Moreover, students engage in thought-provoking discussion on current topics, via which students acquire significant discussion skills and critical thinking capability. Writing assignments include more advanced essays. Informative writing and argumentative writing are incorporated in the course to reinforce students’ skills of writing a thesis statement and expressing one’s own voice in written language. The weighting of process in writing assignments and constructive feedback from both peers and instructors support the cultivation of intellectual character among students, paving their way to enter the academic community of practice.

老师是今年刚来南科大的,上课都是按照英语三的大纲来的,英语三大纲很臭,作业很多,但是老师上课感觉很佛系,不怎么管摸鱼的人,课堂上没有丝毫压力。

平时作业、journal一般都是给满的,期中考试给分一般,英语pre给分还行,苯人期中总评就被扣了三分,最后千辛万苦拿了一个A,想要冲满绩或者高绩点的慎选吧。

老师是23秋新来的老师,人还是不错的,很温和,上课语速也比较慢。

有着大多数外教共通的弊端,给分一般,指基本每项都会扣一点分,加在一起基本和满绩无缘了,期中考试尤其狠,最高好像就18分,很多人这一项就相当于扣了总评的四五分,老师估计也不了解绩点转换的关系吧,更不可能捞人了。

作业工作量的话,苯人基本全部gpt,老师上课看到我带电脑好像默认我摸鱼了,平时作业应该都给满的。

Hannah…不好说,前面几位同学都评价得很全面了,情况也确实就是大家见到的这样,突出特点就是事情超级无敌多、ddl短(上了三学期英语从来没见过这么短的ddl,这点最最最不能理解,期末的几次ddl更是设在周五上课时间段)、布置作业还完全不考虑期中期末学生需要复习备考。再补充几点,上课互动特别特别多,会隔一段时间就随机分组(会拆开那些本来就很熟的),基本一整节课都会挨组提问,如果你恰好是那个组唯一自觉且活跃的人,那你就遭老罪咯(当然偶尔会直接指定人回答)。然后每次讨论环节她都会走到每个组听大家的讨论,总之就是一整节课别想闲着。而且存在很严重的问题是,如此丰富的课程内容一学期下来并没有给我感觉收货很多,有种性价比很低的感觉(对比之前有选到过事少收获多给分好的老师)。pre和期中听力的给分个人感觉有点太严苛了,会详细写得分丢分原因,但总觉得丢分原因不够有说服力…但考虑到有两次加分机制,所以暂且说得保守一点。对她持观望态度吧,如果她未来认真听取了一些合理的建议,调整了课程内容的话算是正常老师,但是目前真的避雷…避雷…

这老师纯纯答辩,在南科大遇到过最差的老师没有之一。刚来南科大,什么都不懂,给分超级无敌低,作业托马斯回旋多。真没见过这么答辩的南科大英语老师,选她你真是遭老罪喽哈哈哈哈哈

优点:

  1. 考勤不严,老师性格挺好的
  2. 中期(注意⚠️只有中期)作业量不多
  3. 课堂任务比较多,可以督促自己保持阅读/听力/写作能力,背单词(不算很适合摸鱼)

缺点:

  1. 作业超级多(相比其他班),Journals不能糊弄(比英语I/II 量多超级多倍),作业ddl时间通常为3天-1周,时间不宽松。
  2. 离期末还剩两周时,突然被布置一篇当堂手写的700词+的essay(Week15 L1),课堂分组Debate(Week15 L2),课堂个人pre(Week16 L1+L2),外加作业——两篇长长的Reading Journal,纯纯逆天!!!(以前英语课,这个时候都没什么作业+课上放松看看视频 or 练练tpo了)
  3. Reading Journal最后几篇全部200词+,非常不友好。
  4. 经常悄悄布置课文阅读作业(写在黑板上,临下课说一句,但是下一节课会登记检查,看总体完成度计入平时成绩)
  5. 课堂氛围比较沉闷而死板,老师比较佛(不太擅长调动气氛,感觉比较i人),课堂group talks很多但是话题设置的有些尴尬,经常讨论着就一片寂静。
  6. 给分似乎不太宽松。期中平均15.8/20左右。

当然一切的原因都可能是:老师是新来的,很守语言中心规定的课堂体系(每周课本听力+读写书一起用),作业布置的多而全面。老师人还是不错的,也很好沟通,希望以后可以改进吧qaq

hannah是2023新来的老师,之前在日本那边教书,开学有分享过一些两边学生的不同

但是她的作业太多了,而且给分很一般,举个例子,这学期应该1个essay和1个pre,都是直接期末计分的。英语3很多班是小组essay,但是她是一个人独立essay,很累,字数要求也很高

老师第十四周通知,之前的论文不算数了(已经过去很多周了),每个人重新写论文,写辩论文题,第十五周第一节课课上当堂写作,不允许用电子产品,只能带一页(对一页)没有完整句子的大纲(A4)和一页单词笔记(A5)记录不会的单词,不能有中文,一页索引APA,按引用格式写的那种,很累很累,临近期末通知,让人很疲倦

不,他还通知第十五周第二节课要debate,按论文题目debate,按常规辩论赛形式来,一辩二辩三辩四辩,要有分论点和总结,wok。

不TT,第十六周两节课要pre,重新pre,根据论文主题来,这个pre是新加的,占分哎

Hannah人还是不错的,很和善的老师(指性格),上课也不会很严格,签到也不会卡点,课上可以摸鱼,但是会被点回答问题,可是临近期末两周加了一个当堂纯英论文写作和一场英语辩论,还有一场pre,真的太累了,如果提前几周,也能理解,三个大项目累积在最后真的TT苦苦哭哭,而且她的给分也不好,期中均分15,一半人总评被扣5分左右哎
